"During the weeks, I found my body stronger and I slept well. I found the gentle release of tears and emotions very healing. By taking just an hour a week for a few weeks, my mind was clearer and more focused. I was able to finish and confidently submit my PhD and make the life-changing decision to relocate my family abroad."

What is TRE®?

TRE® stands for Tension Release exercises. It is a useful and natural way to relax and feel better. This incredible therapeutic technique can help you tap into your body's wisdom, help you release stored physical and emotional tension and gently return to balance.

With the guidance of a certified TRE® provider, you'll explore a series of stretches that may activate your body's natural ability to shake, yawn, laugh, cry, belch or even purr! You're always in control during the sessions, so you can stop whenever you wish.

Who developed TRE®?

TRE® is a groundbreaking approach developed by Dr David Berceli, a renowned psychologist and trauma researcher. His extensive work, supported by the insights of leading experts like Dr Bessel van der Kolk, Dr Peter Levine, and Dr Gabor Maté, has revealed the profound connection between unresolved trauma and physical tension. TRE® offers a powerful way to release this stored tension and promote healing.

Some individuals also report a more positive outlook, less emotional reactivity, more harmonious relationships and a greater resilience to cope with life's stresses.

How often should I do TRE®?

To safely and fully benefit from TRE®, we recommend learning the technique from a certified TRE® provider. Typically, it takes 6 to 8 weekly sessions to master the stretches and understand your body's response. Once you've developed muscle memory, many people can safely practice TRE® on their own.

It's generally recommended to continue practicing TRE® regularly, about twice a week. However, it's important to listen to your body and adjust the frequency as needed.

How long does a typical TRE® session last?

A typical TRE® session lasts between 45 and 75 minutes. By adopting an attitude of curiosity, we will trust your body's wisdom, readiness and let it decide the appropriate pace. Each session typically includes:

  • A welcome / intro

  • Guided stretches

  • A tremoring phase

  • An integration/resting phase

  • Time to ground

TRE® is a body-based therapy that focuses on your physical sensations rather than requiring you to discuss your past experiences with your TRE® provider. To ensure your safety, we'll ask you to complete a confidential medical history form before your first session. This information will be shared only with your TRE® provider and their supervisor, and your name will not be disclosed.

TRE® can often be combined with other therapeutic approaches, such as psychotherapy or life coaching. It's essential to consult with your healthcare provider or therapist to determine the best course of action for your specific needs.
